STANISLAO FARRI. THE ARCHIVE OF UTOPIA
The photographic archive of Stanislao Farri, acquired by the Panizzi Library since 1995, consists of about 170,000 negative and positive units, print samples and slides illustrating the intense professional and research activity of the author started in 1955.
The exhibition and the catalog become tools for the rediscovery of the archive, made available to users thanks to a reordering and inventorying operation.
Stanislao Farri, in fact, focuses on documenting the different facets of local cultural, folkloric and industrial heritage, including the landscape that is presented as a "widespread museum". A characteristic of his photographic research is the constant study over time, which is fundamental for understanding both Farri's work methods and the different cultural identities that have transformed the city and the territory over the years. The professional activity is intertwined with amateur research that allows free experimentation, through the innovative use of photosensitive materials.
The work of Farri is thus characterized by a style that has been recognized in the world of Italian photography from the 1960s to the 1980s.
