A COUNTRY. HISTORY AND HERITAGE

A country is one of the first Italian photographic books and is influenced by the culture of Italian neorealism and tells, through the images of the American photographer and the lyrics of Cesare Zavattini, the lives and stories of the humble of an Italian country – Luzzara, in the plain of Padana – As a mirror of the spirit of a people and the universal rhythm of earth-bound life.

The exhibition will also show through the shots of Gianni Berengo Gardin, who together with Zavattini made a Country twenty years later in 1976, Luigi Ghirri, Stephen Shore, Olivo Barbieri until Claudio Parmiggiani's artistic research as a Country was a source Inspiration for several authors, photographers, writers and artists, and how these have taken inspiration from the volume, which has become an exemplary in the history of photography and literature for the relationship between image and writing.
