Un Paese is one of the earliest Italian photo books and is influenced by the culture of Italian neorealism and tells, through the images of the American photographer and the texts of Cesare Zavattini, the lives and stories of the humble people of an Italian village – Luzzara, in the Po Valley – chosen as a mirror of the spirit of a people and the universal rhythm of life tied to the land.
The review will also illustrate, through the shots of Gianni Berengo Gardin, who together with Zavattini makes. A country 20 years later in 1976, Luigi Ghirri, Stephen Shore, Olive tree Barbieri to the artistic research of Claudio Parmiggiani, as A Country has been a source of inspiration for various authors, photographers, writers and artists and how they have been inspired by the volume, which has become exemplary in the history of photography and literature for the relationship between image and writing.
