MAST Foundation for Photography Grant on Industry and Work
The MAST Foundation for Photography Grant on Industry and Work is an international competition that this year reaches its fifth edition, gathering the baton of the GD4PhotoArt competition.
The initiative aims to give voice to the photographic research of the new generations of artists enriching the cultural offer of the MAST Foundation with unpublished cues linked to the young people's eyes on the themes of industry, technology, the territory and work.
Presenting the projects of the finalist photographers, this exhibition is the final act of the 2018 competition.
Mari Bastashevski, Sara Cwynar, Sohei Nishino and Cristóbal Olivares shed light on four geographical and human realities that reflect the very rapid transformations taking place in the world at an economic and productive level and their environmental, social, and ethical implications in the lives of each of us.
We must continually acknowledge how poor our knowledge is in the world of design, development, production, marketing and sales of products, how limited the circulation of images from these sectors is.
With great strides, research, technology and finance have made our world abstract. So much more important and essential then becomes visualizing it: only by returning it through images can we try to follow its paths, to understand the most radical aspects of digitalization, the opening of new areas, new knowledge, new materials and new financial models. And understanding the world is a primary and essential condition for the existence of an adult and responsible citizen in a free and democratic society.
The MAST Foundation for Photography Grant 2018 was awarded ex-aequo to Sara Cwynar and Sohei Nishino.
