BR1 – European Photography 2018

GOLDEN DARK AGE is a series of four photographs by artist BR1 in which the identities of the women portrayed are concealed by an isothermal blanket, used during sea migrant rescues. These portraits invite reflection on the disintegration of democratic and liberal values as well as the ambiguities of globalized society, which create new levels of social exclusion. BR1 also investigates the concept of “change” through the lens of borders, physical and mental, and cultural identities.
